There is a strong demand for domestic tactical radar stations in Ukraine. The queue to receive a model from one of the Ukrainian manufacturers is over a year. Taras Tymochko, a consultant for the "Return Alive" charitable foundation, told this in an interview with Defense while discussing the development of interceptor drones.
"There is a very large demand for Ukrainian radar stations now. The military is very praising them. The queue to receive a model from one domestic factory is already 13 months. Just six months ago, the queue was 6 months. That is, our manufacturer lacks scalability. Demand is growing, but production capacity cannot keep up with it," he said.
According to Tymochko, for operators of interceptor drones, Ukrainian radar is simpler and more stable to use, because it is made for the appropriate purposes. Imported ones have many operating modes and settings for different purposes, which causes technical difficulties.
He also noted that the enemy is actively hunting for small radar stations. Sometimes he succeeds, and sometimes he doesn't, "because we have already started to counteract this." At the same time, he noted that there are currently no problems with the presence of these radars, and the main "bottleneck" in scaling up the shooting down of enemy drones by interceptor drones remains the training of operators.
