"Madyar's Birds" shot down a Russian UAV "Orion" worth over $5 million

The "Topota" unit of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a rare Russian drone "Orion", the cost of which exceeds $5 million. The fact of the defeat was reported by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, known as Madyar"

Initially, the drone was spotted by fighters of the 95th ODShBr, who shot it down with an interceptor purchased through the "Dronefall" program from the Come Back Alive foundation. After that, the Madyar unit had already completed the target.

"Orion" has a wingspan of 16.3 meters and can stay in the air for up to 24 hours. This drone has a take-off weight of up to 1000 kg and is capable of carrying a payload of up to 200 kg, including X-50 missiles, UPAB-50, FAB-50, KAB-50 aerial bombs and the like. The device can fly at an altitude of up to 7500 m, reach speeds of 200 km/h and has a range of 250 km.

Broddi noted that this is one of the few devices of this type liquidated by the Ukrainian military. Previously, the units of the "Birds of the Magyar" destroyed more than 1,500 enemy drones of various models, including "Orlan", "ZALA", "Supercam", "Shahed", "Gerber" and "Lancet". The largest targets before this were "Merlin" and "Forpost".

Madyar added that "Orion" remained on the list of priority targets, and thanked the fighters of the "Topota" team for the work done.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Directorate of Defence demonstrated a video of the "Kryla" special forces unit destroying Russian drones in Ukrainian skies.
