Romania wants to establish joint production of drones with Ukraine

- 18 July, 01:08 PM

Romania is interested in producing drones together with Ukraine, the Romanian TV channel Digi24 reports.

According to media reports, the country's Ministry of National Defense plans to negotiate with Ukrainian officials to establish the production of drones in Romania and subsequently sell them to other European countries.

The ministry confirmed this information during a meeting with journalists. The Romanian Minister of National Defense is to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart and discuss a possible agreement.

This is not a very complicated business plan. According to it, Romania would potentially have to pay for access to technical documentation for drones that were developed by Ukrainians based on combat experience from previous years.

The next step could be investing in production facilities in Romania, most likely at a factory in Brasov. There, Ukrainian and Romanian specialists will work together on the production of drones.

"Most of the drones will go to the Romanian army, but many of them will also be sold to other European countries, according to the plan," the material says.

The implementation of the plan in 2025 is considered unlikely due to a lack of appropriate funding in Romania. It is expected that the matter may reach specifics in 2026, after the approval of the country's new military budget.

By the way, the day before yesterday, Ukraine introduced a platform for testing foreign defense technologies based on Brave1. It is called Test in Ukraine, and developers can apply for testing their technologies in Ukraine.
