Gunsmiths conducted over half a thousand tests during the year of the Iron Range project

During the year of operation of the Iron Range service, which was launched for munitions manufacturers to test samples at the early stages of design, almost 750 relevant applications were submitted. Of these, more than 550 were completed, the Ministry of Defence reports.

The service for manufacturers of weapons and military equipment was launched by the Ministry of Defence together with the Ministry for Strategic Industries.

According to the Ministry of Defence, testing of samples takes place at modern testing grounds equipped with the necessary equipment for various types of weapons, including the creation of radio interference and other conditions close to combat.

The defense department says that manufacturers receive professional expertise, advice, and feedback from the military. This allows them to bring their designs to technological readiness more quickly. The service also helps streamline the process of codifying new products.

"The service of access to the test sites is free for all manufacturers of the defense-industrial complex. One manufacturer can use the service several times during the process of creating a product," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
