French automaker Renault has held talks with the French Ministry of Defense regarding the production of drones in Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
According to a company representative, no decision has been made at this stage. The agency's interlocutor explained this by saying that Renault expects further details from the French ministry after negotiations.
As is known, on June 6, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said that "a large French car manufacturer" is going to establish UAV production in Ukraine. The official did not specify which company he was referring to.
On June 8, France Info reported that Renault could start manufacturing UAVs in Ukraine. It was noted that the French automaker would work with a small defense company to create production lines tens or hundreds of kilometers from the front line.
At the same time, it was reported that drones could be used by Ukraine and the French armed forces.
By the way, let us recall that the United Kingdom promises to transfer 100,000 drones to Ukraine by April 2026. This is ten times higher than previous deliveries.
The British government points out that the £350 million ($473 million) UAV package is part of a wider £4.5 billion military aid program for our country.
