First PURL aid packages for Ukraine will contain Patriot and HIMARS missiles – Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the first two aid packages under the Priority Needs List of Ukraine (PURL) initiative will include missiles for Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS rocket systems, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
According to him, partners have already provided more than $2 billion for the program, and in October, funding is expected to increase to $3–3.5 billion.
"The first two packages are $500 million each, as far as I understand... And what will be in these packages? In these packages, I won't go into all the details, there will definitely be missiles for Patriot and Himars," the president said.
The PURL mechanism, launched by the US and NATO in August 2025, allows allies to finance the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine through voluntary contributions. The first package of $500 million was financed by the Netherlands, followed by Sweden, Norway and Denmark. NATO coordinates the supply.
Yesterday, September 16, Reuters reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump has approved both packages of military aid to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the White House had approved the first deliveries, and stressed the importance of the rapid arrival of the aid, given the country's high defense needs.
Earlier it became known that the US had agreed to sell Ukraine equipment for servicing Patriot systems worth $179 million. Before that, it became known that Norway was allocating almost $700 million for Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine.
