Ukraine is testing aerial platforms for evacuating the wounded – Syrskyi

- 18 August, 12:12 PM

Ukraine is testing aerial platforms for evacuating the wounded, said General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the country is relying on high-tech weapons and systems that will help reduce the presence of our military personnel directly on the battlefield.

Oleksandr Syrsky noted that this primarily concerns robotic platforms, unmanned systems of various types and purposes - primarily aerial drones. The direction of ground systems - logistics, medical for evacuating the wounded - is also actively developing.

"We are already testing aerial platforms for medical evacuation — that's the future," said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He added that everything related to drones, which act as interceptors to combat enemy strike UAVs, is also a priority. In addition, there are many "impressive results" that have been achieved with the help of our maritime platforms.

"All of this is technological weaponry, weapons with artificial intelligence, so to speak. Because, for example, all our modern developments have systems for searching, capturing targets, and homing. There are some automatic return systems if there is no capture or detonation. This direction is very promising for us," shared Oleksandr Syrskyi.

At the same time, he noted that artificial intelligence is used virtually everywhere, but it must be taken into account that the technology can make mistakes. Now is only the beginning of its development and application. However, structures have already been created in the General Staff and other headquarters that deal with the applications of AI in the military sphere.

"As I said, virtually all of our technological weapons have elements of artificial intelligence. For example, air defense systems. Even conventional anti-aircraft installations - machine gun or cannon - have modern systems for aiming, capturing, automatic tracking, classification and identification of targets, which allows their effectiveness to be increased many times over," emphasized Oleksandr Syrskyi.

By the way, recently, a Zmiy-500 ground drone of the Charter brigade rescued a wounded soldier, covering a 34 km route.

This is not the only example of the use of robots to evacuate the wounded. Earlier, the 118th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed how a fighter was rescued using a ground robotic complex.

Previously, the Tor-800 ground logistics drone of the 13th Brigade Khartiia also saved the life of a wounded infantryman.
