Poland does not rule out transferring its MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. This was stated by the Polish Charge d'Affaires in Ukraine Piotr Lukaszewicz in a comment to journalists, writes Kryla.

The diplomat noted that the issue of transferring Soviet-era aircraft depends primarily on Ukraine's needs. Currently, the Ukrainian Air Force is focusing on acquiring more modern platforms, such as the Gripen or F-16.

"We are gradually withdrawing MiG-29s from our inventory, replacing them with F-16s, so the transfer of these aircraft to Ukraine is quite possible. Negotiations on this issue are ongoing," said Piotr Lukaszewicz.

Poland has previously stated its readiness to transfer part of its MiG-29 fleet to Ukraine to support the Air Force. The final decision will be made after consultations between the parties and an assessment of our country's defense needs.

If agreements are reached, Poland is also ready to transfer engines, simulators, spare parts, and other equipment needed to operate the MiG-29.

This is not the first time Ukraine has requested the transfer of MiG-29s to Poland. For example, the country made such a request in the fall of 2024. At that time, the Polish authorities stated that the transfer of these aircraft could reduce the level of Poland's own air defense.

By the way, earlier, the country's Defense Minister, Tore Sandvik, stated that Norway would transfer all the promised F-16 fighters to Ukraine by the end of 2025.
