Poland spent almost $90 million on Starlink for Ukraine in three years
Poland spent almost 323 million zlotys (about $ 87 million – ed.) on Starlink for Ukraine in the period 2022-2024. This is reported by Militarnyi with reference to Polska Zbrojna.
According to the publication, the indicated amount takes into account both the purchase of satellite Internet terminals and subscription costs.
No further purchases are planned this year, and the estimated cost of the subscription fee exceeds PLN 77 million (over $ 20 million – ed.) – according to data published by the Polish Ministry of Digitalization.
The publication also indicates that the money for this purpose comes from the Ukraine Assistance Fund, which was created by the Polish authorities after February 24, 2022.
Thanks to this funding, our country received 24.5 thousand satellite terminals. In addition, another 5.1 thousand devices were provided by other local sources.
Meanwhile, the Polish government pays a subscription fee for all terminals. The cost of a single Starlink subscription is PLN 528.9 per month, and the cost of a special subscription is PLN 1,383.75.
It was previously reported that Ukraine will be forced to remain dependent on the Starlink satellite network, which provides critical communications on the battlefield and in civilian facilities. This is because there are currently no alternatives that can match its capabilities and efficiency .
