The Verkhovna Rada has generally approved draft laws on tax and customs benefits for manufacturers of drones controlled via fiber optic cable, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported.
We are talking about two documents. One of them is project No. 13305 "On Amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine Regarding the Exemption from Import Duty of Goods Imported into the Customs Territory of Ukraine for Security and Defense Needs, and the Elimination of Technical Inconsistencies." It was supported by 302 people's deputies.
Among the tasks of the draft law is control over the intended use of goods that were imported with exemption from import duty.
The second project is No. 13306 "On Amendments to Subsection 2 of Section XX "Transitional Provisions" of the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding exemption from VAT on transactions involving the import of goods for security and defense needs into the customs territory of Ukraine." 303 people's deputies voted for it.
One of the project's objectives is to monitor the intended use of goods that were imported with exemption from value-added tax.
In addition, the objectives of both documents are to reduce the cost of production of unmanned systems that use optical cable for control and video signal transmission, as well as to increase the efficiency of providing the Ukrainian defense forces with the necessary technical means.
By the way, the Ministry of Defense recently codified the line of fiber-optic drones Predator REBOFF. The drones have coils with fiber-optic cables from 10 to 20 km long. The development of the UAV started in 2023, and in 2024 the first test batches entered the army.
