Pentagon orders AMRAAM missiles from Raytheon, Ukraine on the list of recipients
The American company Raytheon has received a contract worth up to $3.5 billion to produce AMRAAM medium-range aircraft missiles. They are to be supplied, among others, by Ukraine, the US Department of Defense announced.
The contract with the Pentagon plans to produce the AMRAAM missiles themselves, telemetry systems, spare parts for initial and field use, as well as other engineering work related to production.
The contract provides for supplies within the framework of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) system not only to Ukraine, but also to other countries. Among them: Belgium, Japan, the Netherlands, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Taiwan, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, Israel and Kuwait.
The work will be performed in Tucson (USA) and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of fiscal year 2031.
AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles are in service with various fighter jets. Their list includes F-16 aircraft, which are used by the Ukrainian Air Force. In addition, these missiles are used in NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, which also protect Ukrainian skies.
