New weapons packages for Ukraine within the framework of the PURL initiative are already being agreed with the US
Several packages of American weapons have already been financed for Ukraine within the framework of the "Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List" (PURL) initiative. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The PURL initiative is a very valuable NATO mechanism that translates Allied support into tangible capabilities for Ukraine. It allows us to procure defense equipment that is needed now to save lives, including Patriot systems and other key American equipment, and is already delivering real results," he wrote.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, since August, Ukraine's partners have financed the following weapons packages:
- Netherlands – $ 578 million (first package);
- Denmark, Norway, Sweden together – 495 million (second package);
In addition, Germany announced its intention to finance a third package of $ 500 million, and Canada – a fourth package of $ 500 million.
At the same time, the head of state noted that the fifth and sixth packages are currently being coordinated with the American side. As of now, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Iceland and Luxembourg have already declared their readiness to contribute to the upcoming fifth package.
"Our goal is to provide $1 billion (US - ed.) per month within the initiative to fully realize its potential. We are grateful to each partner for such important contributions. Together, we strengthen our defense and bring a just and lasting peace closer," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
Previously, the President of Ukraine stated that the first two aid packages under the PURL initiative include missiles for Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS rocket systems.
As you know, the PURL initiative became operational in the summer of 2025. It was created jointly by NATO and the United States and is aimed at the rapid supply of American weapons, which are financed by partners for Ukraine.
