The enemy seriously damaged the Ukrainian Patriot radar, but it was repaired in Germany
A few months ago, the Russians managed to seriously damage a MIM-104 Patriot radar station in Ukraine. However, the disabled equipment was repaired. This was stated by the Deputy Commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Initiative for Ukraine ( NSATU ), Major General Mike Keller, in an interview with the FAZ publication, German Aid to Ukraine reports.
According to him, the damaged radar was delivered to Germany. There, experts concluded that the radar was completely out of order and beyond repair. But since replacing the station with a new one would take several years, the experts tried to repair it anyway.
It is claimed that the experts managed to carry out the repairs. They achieved the result by working 16 hours a day from Monday to Saturday. In July, the radar station was returned to Ukraine. It is already operational - last week, the first Russian target was intercepted with the help of the radar.
By the way, in early August, Germany announced that it would supply Ukraine with two Patriot systems after reaching an agreement with the US that Berlin would be first in line to receive the latest systems in exchange for those it was giving away.
According to the country's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, thanks to the US commitment, the country "can initially support Ukraine with launchers and then with additional components of the Patriot system."
