NATO has announced the successful testing of advanced defense solutions aimed at neutralizing modern aerial threats, including glider bombs. The project is the result of close cooperation between France, NATO and Ukrainian partners, including the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces.

Three technology startups – Alta Ares, ATREYD and TYTAN – were involved in the trial, which integrated their solutions into a single multi-layered system. The trials, which took place at the French Directorate General of Armaments’ training grounds, lasted several days and included testing of sensor systems, control systems and methods of engaging targets in conditions close to combat.

The Ukrainian side emphasized the urgent need for multi-layered defenses to counter diverse air threats, such as Shahed strike drones and complex glider bombs. The test results confirmed the effectiveness of the multi-layered defense concept and opened the way for its further improvement.

Current developments are already in the final stages of development, with clearly defined areas for improvement. The companies involved are working to improve their technologies, and important updates are expected to be introduced in the near future, which will be key to further progress.

It is expected that the first elements of the new defense platform may be ready for deployment in Ukraine by the end of 2025. A new series of tests is planned, which aims to confirm the comprehensive effectiveness of the developed solutions in real conditions.
