National Guardsmen destroyed Russian S-300V air defense system worth $40 million
Thanks to Ukrainian soldiers, the Russian armed forces suffered another costly loss. Servicemen of the separate special forces unit "Lazar" of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed an enemy S-300V anti-aircraft missile system in the Zaporizhia direction. This was reported by the Telegram channel BUTUSOV PLUS.
"The fighters of the Lazar OZSP of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard in the Zaporizhia direction destroyed the S-300V air defense system worth 40 million dollars!", the report says.
Ukrainian UAV operators discovered a launcher with two transport-launch containers and then attacked them. As a result of precise strikes, a powerful explosion of the SAM ammunition occurred and the complex completely burned down.
The S-300V is a medium-range anti-aircraft missile system developed in the USSR in the 1970s and adopted for service in 1988. It is designed to protect military facilities from aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Each launcher has its own target illumination radar, which allows for autonomous combat operation. The system is capable of simultaneously engaging several types of targets flying at speeds up to 3,000 m/s.
The complex uses 9M83 and 9M82 missiles with ranges of up to 75 and 100 km, respectively, and all elements of the system are mounted on tracked chassis, which ensures high cross-country ability. The cost of one installation is about $40 million.
By the way, it recently became known that a Ukrainian drone hit the radar of the latest Russian S-500 "Prometheus" air defense system.
