The government merged the Ministry of Strategic Industry with the Ministry of Defence – Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers has merged the Ministry of Strategic Industries into the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced.

"This decision creates a single defense management space and strengthens the coordination and interaction of all its elements," the Minister of Defence wrote.

According to him, the institutional functions of the Ministry of Strategic Industry will be integrated into the structure of the Ministry of Defence. These include the functions of attracting investments to the defense industry, cooperation with partners in the defense sector, in particular, joint weapons production.

Denys Shmyhal added that all organizational procedures will be completed as soon as possible so that the relevant structural units within the Ministry of Defence "work at full capacity."

We will remind that on July 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that German Smetanin will become the head of the Ukrainian Defence Industry Joint Stock Company, which unites the largest state-owned enterprises in the defense industry.

At the same time, the President noted that the Ministry of Defence would be responsible not only for the military sphere, but also for managing strategic industries. This was taken as an announcement of the merger of the two ministries.
