MPs supported key bills on Defence City
The Verkhovna Rada has supported key bills on Defence City, a special legal regime to support domestic enterprises of the defense-industrial complex, Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal announced.
According to People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in general draft laws No. 13420 "On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and Other Laws of Ukraine on Support for Enterprises of the Defence-Industrial Complex" and No. 13421 "On Amendments to Section XXI "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Customs Code of Ukraine on Support for Enterprises of the Defence-Industrial Complex". 260 people's deputies voted for the first, and 258 for the second.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defence noted that the launch of the Defence City legal regime "will significantly increase the production of modern Ukrainian weapons and military equipment, develop the latest technologies, attract investments in the industry, and increase the capabilities of the Defence Forces."
According to the Minister of Defence, residents of Defence City will receive a number of benefits:
- Exemption from income tax (subject to reinvestment);
- Exemption from land and real estate tax (if used in production);
- Exemption from environmental tax;
- Simplification of customs procedures;
- Simplified regime for the international transfer of defense products;
- The features of relocation and the implementation of measures to increase the protection of production facilities are supported by the state.
Denys Shmyhal added that participation in Defence City is open to enterprises that are of strategic importance for the state's defense capability, meet transparency requirements and other specified criteria.
"Our key goal is to fully provide the Defence Forces with everything they need, develop and improve their own weapons and equipment, and guarantee the security of the state in the future thanks to a strong, capable army," the head of the defense department emphasized.
