In September 2025, Kyiv allocated UAH 235 million to strengthen the capital's air defense system. In particular, for the military to purchase enemy Shahed interceptor drones. This was announced by the city's mayor, Vitaliy Klychko.

"Today at the Defense Council we will also discuss how this issue is being implemented and what other help is needed from the Kyiv community," he wrote.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on September 11 that the United Kingdom will produce Ukrainian interceptor drones. According to him, the first thousand drones are planned to be manufactured initially, all of which will be delivered to Ukraine.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated in September that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing to build capabilities to counter Shahed attack drones. He explained that the task is to form more such crews, train more fighter operators, and provide them with effective weapons and radar.
