Kyiv discusses €120 million loan with Warsaw to purchase Polish weapons
Ukraine has requested a loan from Poland to purchase Polish defense industry products, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha said in an interview with Ukrinform. According to him, the loan is worth 120 million euros.
At the same time, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that Polish weapons, in particular the Piorun MANPADS or the Krab self-propelled guns, are effective and proven on the battlefield. Given this, our country is ready to purchase this type of weapons.
"And this was one of the topics of discussion with Mr. Sikorski regarding the possibility of obtaining a loan. With this loan, we are ready to purchase products of their defense industry in Poland. Poland has good traditions of producing "defense" products, and we are ready to consider the possibility of purchasing them," the minister said.
Andriy Sybiha also added that during a recent meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, he discussed the next packages of Polish military assistance to Ukraine. He noted that the Ukrainian side always conveys to partners the key priorities of what the Ukrainian soldier currently needs on the battlefield.
At the same time, he emphasized that Kyiv is also conducting a dialogue with Warsaw on cooperation in the production of defense-industrial complex products both in Ukraine and Poland.
"This is a common interest, a mutually beneficial interest, and a contribution to our common future," the diplomat emphasized.
We would like to remind you that Poland has already provided Ukraine with 46 packages of military assistance. Currently, the total value of Polish military assistance to our country exceeds 4 billion euros.
