Developers have submitted 162 proposals for the NATO International Innovation Competition dedicated to combating FPV drones using fiber optics, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

This is a hackathon organized by the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC).

"The 16th NATO Innovation Challenge attracted a record-breaking number of applications—the highest in the history of NATO’s innovation hackathons," the Ministry of Defense noted.

Among the applications are 42 draft solutions from Ukrainian developers. According to the Director of JATEC Program Implementation, Colonel Valeriy Vyshnivsky, Ukraine's participation gives our developers the opportunity to make themselves known at the NATO level.

As you know, the current competition is focused on finding technologies that can effectively counter FPV drones that demonstrate resistance to electronic warfare.

According to the defense ministry, the submitted proposals are currently being evaluated. The finalists will be announced on June 20 in Tallinn during a public presentation of the hackathon results.

"The winners of the competition will not only gain access to NATO’s expert community but also new opportunities to integrate their technologies into joint defence initiatives, thereby strengthening the defence capabilities of Ukraine and its NATO allies," the Ministry of Defense noted.

As you know, innovation competitions are held under the leadership of NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT). This year, JATEC has already held a hackathon on countering guided aerial bombs (CAB), where Ukrainian experts joined the jury for the first time.
