GUR revealed the filling of the Russian jet drone, which accelerates to 370 km/h
The Ukrainian Defence Ministry's GUR has published a 3D model, components, and foreign component base of the Russian U-series Geran-3 drone. The intelligence agency showed the relevant information in the "Weapon Components" section on the War&Sanctions portal.
The Geran-3 UAV is an analogue of the Iranian Shahed-238 jet drone, the component base of which was presented by the GUR in June 2024 together with the launch of the portal. Now Ukrainian intelligence is showing information about the "Russian localized version" of the Iranian drone.
"The Geran-3 UAV of the U series uses the Chinese Telefly JT80 turbojet engine, thanks to which the drone is able to move at a speed of 300 to 370 km/h; the estimated operational range of use is up to 1,000 km," the report says.
According to the GUR, this UAV gains maximum speed mainly in the areas of action of Ukrainian air defense and electronic warfare assets, in areas of use of interceptor drones, and in the terminal stages of flight when descending to the target.
"The layout of modules and electronic units is mostly the same as the gasoline versions of the Geran-2 of the Y series: in particular, it includes the standard SADRA inertial navigation system, air pressure measurement unit (ADC), power distribution unit (PDU), etc.," the intelligence service noted.
To ensure protection of satellite navigation from electronic warfare (EW) means, "Geran-3" uses a jamming-protected satellite navigation system with an adaptive antenna array (CRPA) of 12 elements – "Komyeta-M12".
The GUR added that out of a total of 45 identified foreign components, half were from American manufacturers, eight from Chinese, seven from Swiss, three from German, two from British, and one from a Japanese manufacturer.
In addition, according to available data, a camera and video transmission system from the Geran-2 UAV of the Kommersant series are being installed on the Geran-3 jets.
Recall that recently, the GUR showed more than 100 foreign components in Russian drones and missiles.
Previously, the GUR published information about hundreds of units of foreign technological equipment used by the largest Russian manufacturer of tanks and armored vehicles, Uralvagonzavod.
