The "Prymary" special unit of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR hunted down two Russian Be-12 "Chaika" anti-submarine amphibious aircraft on September 21, 2025 in the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. This was reported by Ukrainian intelligence.
"This is the first defeat of a Be-12 in history. Be-12 "Chaika" amphibious aircraft are equipped with expensive equipment for detecting and combating submarines," the GUR report says.
Along with two aircraft, during the raid, the GUR's "Prymary" also hit another enemy multi-purpose helicopter, the Mi-8.
According to information from open sources, the length of the Be-12 "Chaika" exceeds 30 m, and the wingspan is 29.84 m. The maximum flight speed of the aircraft is 530 km/h. This aircraft made its first flight in the fall of 1960.
It was previously reported that the GUR's "Prymary" destroyed three Mi-8 helicopters and a Russian radar in Crimea.
Before that, Ukrainian intelligence special forces destroyed a 9K317M "Buk-M3" anti-aircraft missile system of the Russian troops in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhia region. Its price is $40-50 million.
