GUR revealed details of a new Russian AI drone that searches for targets for attack

- 9 June, 02:50 PM

The Main Intelligence Directorate has published data on the design, electronic database, and sources of supply of the new Russian V2U strike UAV, which the enemy is actively using in the Sumy direction. The relevant information is collected in the "Weapon Components" section on the War&Sanctions portal.

"A feature of the drone is its ability to autonomously search and select targets using artificial intelligence. The computing system is based on the Chinese minicomputer Leetop A203, which uses a high-speed assembly based on NVIDIA Jetson Orin as the central processor," the GUR report says.

According to the management, the AI drone is equipped with only one GPS module. This probably indicates that the Russians have abandoned the use of satellite navigation due to the work of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems. The GUR notes that navigation using "computer vision" is probably used - the drone compares the image from the camera with pre-loaded photos of the area.

In addition, the possibility of controlling in FPV format via LTE communication is provided. A Microdrive Tandem-4GS-OEM-11 modem-router has been installed, which works with a SIM card of a Ukrainian mobile operator. Despite the Russian marking, the element base of the modem, according to the GUR, is of Chinese origin.

"The drone is assembled mainly from Chinese-made components: an engine, GPS module, servos, solid-state drive, rangefinder, speed controllers, and batteries. In addition, a Japanese Sony photosensitive sensor, an electromagnetic relay from the Irish company Te Connectivity, and the aforementioned American Jetson Orin module are installed," the department added.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's Directorate of Military Development also publishes the identification data of two Russian and two Chinese companies involved in the supply and assembly of components for this type of UAV.

We will remind you that earlier the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published technical details of the new Russian S8000 "Banderol" cruise missile on the War&Sanctions portal.
