F-16 for Ukraine: Norway will deliver all promised fighters by the end of 2025
Norway will deliver all the promised F-16 fighters to Ukraine by the end of 2025. The country's Defense Minister Tore Sandvik stated this in an interview with NRK, hromadske reports.
He noted that some of the aircraft have already been delivered, and they intend to send the rest by the end of the year.
"The transfer of Norwegian F-16 fighter jets is going according to plan, but for the sake of Ukraine's operational security and within the framework of the dialogue with Ukraine, we do not want to disclose exactly how many Norwegian aircraft have been transferred," said the Norwegian Minister of Defense.
At the same time, he noted that last year the Norwegian government increased support for Ukraine's air defense by 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner (over 112 million euros).
Last summer, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that Ukraine would receive six F-16 fighter jets from the country.
Recall that in April of this year, the head of the US European Command, General Christopher Cavoli, stated that our country would receive additional F-16s.
By the way, on May 16, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the loss of contact with an F-16 aircraft, which was performing a task to repel an enemy air attack. According to the Air Force, an emergency situation arose on board the fighter, the pilot took the aircraft away from the settlement and successfully ejected.
