- 3 October, 03:47 PM

The Orsknefteorgsintez refinery in the Russian city of Orsk, located 1,500 km from the border with Ukraine, was hit by AN-196 "Lyutyi" drones, reports the CyberBoroshno OSINT analyst community.

It is noted that Ukrainian drones were first recorded in black livery.

According to the community, the attack targeted the LCh-24-2000 gasoline and diesel hydrotreating unit. It was modernized in 2014 for deeper fuel purification and compliance with new environmental standards.

The specifications of the "Lyutyi" UAV as of the beginning of 2024 were as follows:

  • Take-off weight: 250-300 kg
  • Length: 4.4 m
  • Wingspan: 6.7 m
  • Warhead weight: 75 kg
  • Flight range: over 1000 km
  • Cost: ~200 thousand US dollars

It should be noted that the version that attacked the Orsk refinery was apparently upgraded to increase its range. It is currently unknown whether other characteristics have changed.

Recall that on July 1, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian enterprise "Kupol" using modernized "Lyutyi" drones. The updated drones received a greater range. To hit the target, they covered about 1,400 km.
