Turkey presents version of Bayraktar TB2 drone with artificial intelligence
The Turkish company Baykar has introduced an upgraded version of its famous unmanned aerial vehicle Bayraktar TB2, designated Bayraktar TB2T-AI. This is reported by ArmiyaInform with reference to the official portal of Baykar. The updated drone has already passed the first operational tests and has already set several records.
The upgrade includes a new turboprop engine and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence systems, which significantly improved the UAV's flight characteristics, increased its autonomy and expanded its combat capabilities. The drone received three new computers with advanced artificial intelligence, which allows it to independently analyze targets, conduct their detection and identification.
The updated Bayraktar TB2T-AI is capable of performing autonomous takeoffs and landings, visually recognizing runways, determining optimal flight routes, and conducting dynamic route planning. Thanks to modern artificial intelligence systems, it can navigate the terrain even in difficult conditions of electronic interference. In case of emergency situations, the drone's intelligent system is now able to automatically return the device to the base, which significantly increases the survivability of the UAV.
The drone is reportedly capable of climbing to an altitude of over 9,000 meters in less than 30 minutes, and during recent tests it set its own record, reaching an altitude of 9,250 meters. Despite the increased take-off weight and payload, it has received an increased flight range, which previously was 27 hours. Other improvements include:
- payload increased by 50-100% from the previous 100 kilograms;
- the maximum speed increased from 220 to 300 km/h;
- the satellite communication system increases the drone's control radius from 150 km to over 1000 km;
As for the combat load, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI can carry laser-guided MAM-C bombs, as well as MAM-L bombs weighing 22 kg and with a range of 15 km. The newest type of weapons are miniature Kemankesh cruise missiles, capable of eliminating threats at a distance of 200 km.
To date, Baykar has produced about 800 drones of this type, and exports are made to 36 countries around the world. Production capacity allows for the production of one drone per day.
With a new powerful engine, high speed, and intelligent autonomous flight capabilities, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI could become one of the best UAVs in its class.
