Ukraine has a drone identification system that reduces "friendly fire" incidents by 90%

- 26 September, 09:33 AM

The Ukrainian drone identification and coordination system UA DroneID, developed by the public organization "Aerorozvidka" together with the company Cossack Labs, allows reducing the number of cases of damage to own drones on the battlefield by 90%. This is reported by DOU.

The technology was created in 2023 and has been used on the front lines ever since. The system operates in real time: it transmits telemetry, mission data, application results, including confirmation of hits or losses. The information is integrated into combat IT systems, in particular DELTA, which allows it to display its own aircraft and avoid false attacks.

UA DroneID is compatible with various platforms — from winged reconnaissance and bombers to interceptors, ground and surface robotic vehicles. Currently, more than 15 manufacturers are connected to the ecosystem, with several dozen more in the process of integration.

In the project, Cossack Labs is responsible for the protocol architecture, cryptography, and telemetry protection. The Ministry of Digital Affairs assists manufacturers with implementation, the Ministry of Defense coordinates the process and forms requirements, and Aerorozvidka, together with the Center for Innovation and Development of Defense Technologies, ensures the connection of manufacturers and integration into DELTA.

In the future, the developers plan to scale the protocol, expand the list of compatible platforms, increase positioning accuracy, and strengthen security, including physical protection of modules in case they are captured by an enemy.

It was previously reported that Ukraine introduced a new drone detector "PES Sirko", which works in conjunction with electronic warfare.
