Air France flight AF750 from Paris to Guadeloupe was forced to return to the airport of departure after a passenger lost his smartphone. The incident occurred an hour into the nine-hour flight on board a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which was carrying 375 passengers and 12 crew members, PhoneArena reports.
After landing in Paris, the airline organized a search for the lost device. Eventually, the smartphone was found and the flight successfully continued its route two hours after its return.
One possible reason for the flight's return could have been concerns about potential problems with the phone's lithium-ion battery, which could cause a fire or explosion if damaged. A similar incident occurred on an Alaska Air flight in 2016 when an iPhone 6 caught fire on board.
This incident delayed the flight to its destination for four hours, and the cost of fuel to return the plane was about $9,000.
