Anniversary iPhone will have a curved design and a front camera with Face ID under the display – Bloomberg
According to the latest reports, Apple is planning a major redesign of the iPhone for its 20th anniversary in 2027.
According to Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman (via WccfTech), the company is working on a smartphone with a completely bezel-less display, where the front camera and Face ID system will be located under the screen, and with an all-glass, curved body. This will get rid of any cutouts and make the device's design as futuristic as possible. In general, the creation of this model is characterized as "extremely complex."
The anniversary iPhone will be manufactured in China, despite high tariffs from the US, as the complexity of the design requires advanced technologies that are not yet available in other countries. Despite expanding production capacity in India and Vietnam, Apple is leaving the production of premium models in China.
The new iPhone is expected to be the most expensive in the lineup due to the complexity of the design and high manufacturing costs. However, equipping the model with all-in-house chips, including its own modem, could help Apple reduce costs.
