YouTube will run ads after key moments in videos
YouTube has announced a new ad format called Peak Points, which uses Google Gemini’s artificial intelligence to analyze videos and identify the most emotionally charged or engaging moments. After such peak scenes, the platform will insert ads to maximize viewer attention, TechCrunch reports.
This strategy is based on the concept of emotional targeting, where ads appear at moments that evoke strong emotions in viewers. Research shows that ads viewed at such moments are better remembered.
However, the new format may cause mixed reactions. Viewers who are deeply immersed in the video's plot may perceive such interruptions as annoying.
The Peak Points feature is currently being tested and will be implemented by the end of the year.
In addition, YouTube announced another advertising format — a shopping feed, which allows users to browse and purchase products directly while watching an ad.
