Since 2021, YouTube has paid out over $100 billion to video creators
According to YouTube, the company has paid out more than $100 billion to content and media creators since 2021. The increase in payments is due to the growth in viewing on TVs, writes CNBC.
The company also notes that the number of YouTube channels earning over $100,000 in 2025 from TV views has increased by 45% compared to 2024. Earlier this year, it was reported that Google's video platform led in TV views for several months in a row.
YouTube's chief product officer, Johanna Vulic, praised the ability of content creators to "shape culture and entertainment in ways we never thought possible," the company said in a statement marking the platform's 20th anniversary.
Several new AI-powered features for YouTube Shorts have been announced. Creators will be able to edit their videos with AI, add music, transitions, and even voiceovers. The new features also include the ability to turn dialogue from relevant videos into a song for use in a short video.
In addition, the Veo 3 AI video generation model is also being integrated into Shorts. It has previously been reported that YouTube uses videos on the platform without users' consent to train its models.
