YouTube Music is testing a new feature that will be familiar to Spotify users
YouTube Music is testing a new feature that Spotify users are familiar with - the ability to share your favorite lines from songs on social media. The new feature was spotted by a Reddit user.
YouTube Music has long displayed lyrics in the Now Playing section, but now users will be able to highlight individual lines. This is followed by a new Share button that opens a menu with social networks. Currently, only posting to Instagram Stories is available, but other platforms may be added in the future.
In addition, users will be able to choose a colorful palette to decorate the quote or upload images with song lyrics — just like in Spotify.
This isn't YouTube Music's first attempt to catch up with the competition: earlier this year, the service began testing updated artist profiles and a new button to switch between audio and video, all of which are expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
