Older Google Home smart speakers will get Gemini integration

- 2 October, 03:14 PM

Google has announced that all Google Home speakers and Nest smart displays from the last 10 years will receive Gemini support, 9to5Google reports.

The innovation will allow you to communicate with the assistant in a more natural way: commands do not need to be formulated explicitly, the context is preserved during the dialogue, and you can change the request even in the middle of a sentence. The assistant also received 10 new voices with more natural intonation and less "robotic" sounding.

The following devices will receive Gemini support:

  • Google Home (2016)
  • Google Home Mini (2017)
  • Google Home Max (2017)
  • Nest Mini (2019)
  • Nest Wifi point (2019)
  • Nest Audio (2020)
  • Google Home Speaker (2026)
  • Nest Hub (2018)
  • Nest Hub (2019)
  • Nest Hub (2nd gen, 2021)

Gemini Live , which enables real-time, live dialogue without having to say "Hey Google" again, will only be available on Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, Nest Hub (2nd generation), and the new Google Home Speaker. It requires a Google Home Premium subscription.

The deployment of Gemini for speakers and displays will begin in late October.
