Xiaomi to unveil its own XRING O1 mobile chip this month
Chinese company Xiaomi will release its own mobile chip, the XRING O1, later this month, the company's CEO Lei Jun announced in a Weibo post.
Meanwhile, as Tech in Asia writes, there have already been some rumors about the mobile processor. It will be manufactured using TSMC's 4-nanometer N4P process. The chip will have a 1+3+4-core architecture: one main core with a frequency of 3.2 GHz, three performance cores with a frequency of 2.5 GHz, and four energy-efficient cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz.
That is, the XRING O1 will be at the level of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from 2022 in terms of characteristics. However, like Google, Xiaomi will probably focus not on maximum performance, but on deeper integration of its own chip with the system.
The processor is expected to be used for the first time in a special version of the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone, which will have much in common with the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Pro, but will use the XRING O1 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new smartphone will likely be exclusive to China.
