The flagship Tesla Model S Plaid lost drag racing to the cheaper Xiaomi SU7 Ultra

A video has appeared online where the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric car surprised everyone by defeating the high-speed Tesla Model S Plaid in drag racing.

In a video posted on the TESLA Geek YouTube channel, the SU7 Ultra initially lags behind the Tesla during takeoff, but quickly catches up and overtakes the latter.

This result was largely made possible by the fact that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with a three-motor system with a capacity of 1526 horsepower, which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds. In turn, the Tesla Model S Plaid has a capacity of 1020 horsepower and accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.99 seconds.

This is all against the background that the cost of the SU7 Ultra is about $72,800, while the Tesla Model S Plaid costs $112,000 in China.

Xiaomi claims that their car is the fastest production sedan with a top speed of 350 km/h, while Tesla has a top speed of 322 km/h.

This victory demonstrates the rapid progress of the Chinese company Xiaomi in the automotive market, confirming its success with regular sales exceeding 20,000 cars every month.
