Xiaomi to invest $7 billion in chip development over 10 years
Xiaomi plans to invest at least 50 billion yuan (approximately $7 billion) in chip development over the next decade, starting in 2025. Reuters reported this, speaking with a Xiaomi representative.
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said that the company has already spent 13.5 billion yuan on the creation of the XringO1 mobile processor. More than 2,500 specialists are working on the project.
The new investment should strengthen Xiaomi's position in the mobile processor market and strengthen control over key technologies amid increasing competition in the smartphone and electric vehicle sectors.
