Xiaomi breaks records in electric car deliveries — over 40,000 per month
Xiaomi EV, the automotive division of the Chinese giant, announced a new record of over 40,000 electric cars delivered in September 2025. This is the first time the company has crossed such a mark in a month, indicating a rapid increase in production capacity.
The success is due to the huge demand for the brand's first two models. The Xiaomi SU7 sedan, introduced in March 2024, immediately became a competitor to the Tesla Model 3, and the launch of the YU7 electric crossover in June 2025 further fueled interest. The result is queues that stretch for months. According to current estimates, the wait for the SU7 reaches 38 weeks, and for the YU7 - up to 48 weeks. This means that new buyers are unlikely to receive the car before next year.
The September figure surpassed the previous August record of 36,396 vehicles, indicating steady growth. Chinese media said the achievement was achieved thanks to the company's sharp increase in production capacity.
At the same time, the situation for Xiaomi remains difficult. On the one hand, record sales prove the popularity of the models and the growth of trust in the brand. On the other hand, too long a wait may force customers to turn to competitors that deliver faster. An additional risk factor was the problems with the autopilot, due to which the company recalled 116 thousand cars.
The pressure on the manufacturer also increased after a fatal accident in March 2025 in Anhui province. Then, an SU7 in driver assistance mode crashed into a curb and three passengers died.
Despite the challenges, Xiaomi has something to be proud of. For comparison, Tesla only surpassed the 40,000-car-per-month mark in 2020, eight years after the Model S was released. Xiaomi reached this level just a year after the debut of its first electric car. This allows the company to claim a place among the market leaders and confirms its ambitions to compete on the global stage.
