Microsoft is updating the Xbox app for Windows on ARM, adding the ability to download ARM64-compatible games. Windows Insiders can now install games locally, not just through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Previously, devices like the Surface Pro 12 with a Qualcomm processor were only able to play cloud games. With the new update, some ARM64 games from PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be available on these devices for the first time.
The Windows and Xbox teams are working on compatibility across the entire Game Pass catalog and developing new features that will allow even more games to run on Windows 11 for ARM in the coming months.
The ARM64 version of the Xbox app was released back in 2022, but there was a lack of native Windows on ARM games back then. You can now check compatibility on the Windows on ARM Ready website to see which games work well.
