Microsoft has announced an AI-powered text summarization feature in Notepad. The update is already rolling out to Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels, The Verge reports.
Users can highlight text, right-click and select the new “Summarize” option, or use the Ctrl + M keyboard shortcut. Copilot will then create a summary of the text and allow you to change its length.
As with other AI features in Windows 11, users will need to be signed in to a Microsoft account to use this feature. In addition to summaries, Microsoft is also testing a feature to view recently closed files in Notepad.
The company is also adding a new “draw and hold” feature to the Snipping Tool. Now, when marking up a screenshot, you can hold the cursor for a while while drawing a line, arrow, rectangle, or oval, and the lines will automatically align.
