Microsoft is testing a new Start menu and it's better than what's there now
Microsoft is testing a revamped Start menu and taskbar in Windows 11 Insider Preview Beta. Users will be able to completely disable the Recommended section. Also, app icons on the taskbar will now dynamically scale based on the number of apps open.
User X @phantomofearth, who regularly explores Windows betas, showed off the updated menu. It has become noticeably larger and now supports creating folders for programs in different categories. To disable the Recommended programs section, you need to deactivate the Show recently added programs option in the settings.
The taskbar icon scaling feature will work similarly to the macOS implementation, but with a few differences. If you have too many open apps to fit, the icons will automatically shrink in size. Users will be able to customize this option to always keep icons scaled down, resize them adaptively, or turn off scaling entirely.
