Microsoft is introducing an improved dark mode in Windows 11
Microsoft has released a Windows 11 Developer Build update that adds dark mode improvements to File Explorer.
These improvements were hidden in the Windows 11 August Insider Update, but have now been officially revealed to all users of the test builds. They will likely appear in the stable version of the system later.
The update extends dark mode to File Explorer: it is now available in action windows such as copying, moving, or deleting files, as well as in the progress bar. In addition, dark mode has been applied to confirmation, skipping, overwriting files, and other similar dialogs.
Microsoft has yet to fully implement dark mode in Windows 11, although this theme first appeared in Windows 10 in 2016. In particular, the Control Panel, the functions of which the company is gradually moving to the "Settings" menu, still does not support the dark theme, as do some other elements of the system.
Recall that in early October, Microsoft also officially released the main update of Windows 11 for 2025 — 25H2. You can read more about it in our material. Before that, the company introduced a new program Windows AI Lab, which will allow you to test experimental artificial intelligence functions.
