WhatsApp is testing voice and video calls on the web

- 29 April, 02:42 PM

WhatsApp is preparing an update for the web version of the messenger that will add the ability to make voice and video calls directly from the browser, WABetaInfo reports. Currently, you need to use the mobile app or desktop programs for Windows and macOS to make calls.

The test version of the web client has already introduced camera and phone icons in chats, just like in the mobile app. Earlier, in the March update, WhatsApp changed the call menu in chats, adding a button with a drop-down list for selecting the type of call.

When the feature becomes available to everyone, WhatsApp will work like other communication platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, where you only need to use a browser to make calls, without the need to install apps.
