WhatsApp, the world's most popular messenger, used by over three billion people every month, has finally got a native iPad app. It is now available for download from the App Store.
iPad owners will be able to make free audio and video calls via WhatsApp. The application will provide end-to-end encryption, as on other platforms, ensuring the security of communication. Thanks to multitasking, users will be able to use the large screen of the tablet more effectively. In addition, the application will allow you to lock access with a password for additional protection of personal data.
By the way, Meta has been testing a separate WhatsApp app for iPad for a long time using TestFlight, Apple's app testing service. The first beta version of the messenger for iPad appeared there back in September 2023.
So far, Meta only offers standalone apps for WhatsApp and Facebook. There's still no standalone app for Threads, Meta's relatively new service that competes with Elon Musk's X, on Apple tablets. Instagram also doesn't have a standalone app, though that could change soon.
