- 17 July, 11:00 PM

Warner Bros. has officially presented the first full-length trailer for the film Mortal Kombat 2 — the sequel to the film adaptation of the cult video game, as well as the first film in the series, which was released in 2021.

One of the film's major developments was the addition of Karl Urban ("The Boys") to the cast as Hollywood actor Johnny Cage, one of the franchise's central characters.

Unlike the previous film, in which the original character Cole Young fought side by side with the main characters of the franchise, the film Mortal Kombat 2 is dedicated directly to the deadly tournament, which became the main event of the plot, and Johnny Cage's participation in it.

The sequel will introduce new characters not seen in the first film, including Princess Kitana (Adelina Rudolph), her friend Jade (Tati Gabriel), the sorcerer Quan Chi (Damon Herriman), Emperor Shao Kahn (Martin Ford), Queen Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen), King Jerrod (Desmond Chiam), and the Tarkatan Baraka (C.J. Bloomfield).

The cast of the first film will return to their roles: Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Josh Lawson as Kano, Chin Han as Shang Zong, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot and Max Huang as Kung Lao. The film will be directed by Simon McQuaid, who made his debut in the previous film in the franchise.

Also, a day before the main trailer, a teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 appeared online, dedicated to Johnny Cage and his film, shot in the style of 90s action movies.

The premiere of the film Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled for October 24, 2025.
