After a series of teasers, vivo officially introduced the X200 Ultra, a flagship with a powerful camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and two of its own image processing chips.
The smartphone has a 50MP main camera with a LYT-818 sensor, f/1.69 and a focal length of 35mm, instead of the common 24mm. This should provide better portrait photography. The ultra-wide-angle camera (14mm, f/2.0) has the same 50MP LYT-818 sensor as the main one.
The 200-megapixel periscope camera with a Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor (1/1.4", f/2.27, 85 mm equivalent), supports shooting with 3.7x optical zoom and allows you to get macro shots from a distance of 15 cm. If desired, it can be enhanced with an external 2.35× telephoto lens - then the focal length increases to 200 mm.
The additional lens is included in the Photographer Kit. The kit includes the lens itself, a special holder that gives the smartphone the shape of a camera, a neck strap, a shutter button, an additional 2300 mAh battery, and a mount with a USB-C port.
All three cameras support 4K video recording at up to 120 frames per second. There's also 10-bit Log recording and Dolby Vision support. There's also a 50-megapixel selfie camera.
The smartphone uses the V3+ chip, which is responsible for post-processing images: it improves detail, reduces noise, reproduces colors more accurately, and provides high-quality processing in low light conditions.
The second chip is VS1. It processes images during shooting, adjusting exposure, autofocus, and performing primary stacking, which allows you to improve photo quality by overlaying multiple frames.
Other specifications of the vivo X200 Ultra generally meet the standards expected from flagship Android smartphones in 2025. The device has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 6,000 mAh battery, 90W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, and a 6.82-inch QHD+ OLED screen with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The smartphone also has 2 classes of protection against dust and water - IP68 and IP69.
The price of the vivo X200 Ultra starts at $890 (base version 12/256 GB). The kit with an external lens will cost $1329. So far, the smartphone is only available in China - the company has not announced anything about a global launch.
