Google has introduced new wireless headphones Pixel Buds 2a - an update to the inexpensive Pixel Buds A-Series model, released in 2021. The new product has received a number of features previously available only in the flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2.

The Pixel Buds 2a have a redesigned design with ear hooks for stability and a mesh to block wind. The charging case has also been redesigned, although it no longer supports wireless charging. The model is available in two colors - Iris and Hazel.

Among the technical specifications are IP54 protection, active noise cancellation, two microphones per earbud, transparency mode and spatial sound. The Buds 2a are equipped with the Tensor A1 chip, which is also used in the flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2. It provides faster sound processing and improved noise cancellation. The novelty also supports Silent Seal technology version 1.5, while the Pro 2 has version 2.0.

The headphones are compatible with Android, iOS and Windows, have touch controls (without volume control), Fast Pair, Gemini Live, Clear Calling and Bluetooth Multipoint support. Bluetooth Super Wideband support is also announced, which provides clearer voice sound, but works only with Pixel 8 smartphones and newer models. The battery life of the new products is up to 7 hours with ANC and up to 10 without it, for a total of up to 27 hours with the case.

The Pixel Buds 2a will retail for $129 in the US and €149 in Europe. Sales will start in October, and pre-orders are now open.
