Microsoft is testing a "Hey, Copilot" voice command in Windows 11

Microsoft announced that it has started testing a new voice activation feature for Copilot in Windows 11. Users can now launch Copilot by simply saying "Hey, Copilot," allowing them to interact with the chatbot without using a keyboard or mouse.

The feature is available to Windows Insiders who have updated Copilot to version 1.25051.10.0 or later. To enable it, go to the app settings, find the Voice Mode section, and then turn on the option. Once enabled, a floating Copilot interface will appear on your screen, and a beep will sound to confirm that the system is listening.

This technology works on the principle of local voice recognition, that is, the system does not send audio recordings to the cloud or store them locally. It uses a 10-second audio buffer, which allows you to recognize a command even without an Internet connection. However, for Copilot Voice to fully work, a network connection is required.

The new feature is currently only available to some Windows Insiders and only in English. Microsoft promises to expand the update to more users later.
