Spotify is preparing an update to its Android Auto app that will include support for the Jam feature, 9to5google reports, citing the Android Developers channel. The updated app will be built on Google's "Automotive App Library" for Android Auto and Android Automotive OS, which provide greater flexibility in creating multimedia services for cars.
The main innovation is the integration of the Jam function, which allows users to join a music queue without having to connect to another device. To do this, simply scan a QR code that appears on the car display after pressing the Jam button. This way, passengers can add tracks to the playlist without distracting the driver.
In addition, the car display will show a list of Jam participants, as well as provide the ability to remove them if necessary. This innovation will be especially useful for travel, as everyone will be able to influence the musical accompaniment of the trip.
An update to the Spotify app for Android Auto will be available in the coming months, with similar updates expected for Amazon Music and YouTube Music, expanding the capabilities of in-car multimedia services.
