Microsoft has introduced secure password sharing in the Edge browser for business

Microsoft has launched a new feature for its Edge for Business browser that allows administrators to securely pass encrypted passwords to users without exposing them, MSPowerUser reports. The technology provides centralized credential management through the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Administrators can select user groups, add encrypted logins, and automatically deploy them to browsers on managed Windows devices. Employees access passwords through the Edge password manager using AutoFill without the ability to view or edit.

To protect data, the company used the Microsoft Information Protection SDK, which encrypts passwords using keys tied to the Entra ID. Decryption occurs only after identity verification.

Administrators are also given the ability to immediately revoke access to passwords, after which they disappear from users' browsers. In addition, if users try to view a password through developer tools, the company has the ability to block such an action.

The new feature is available for free with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3, and E5 subscriptions. To enable it, you must create or modify an Edge configuration policy in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

This solution is designed to increase corporate data security and simplify account management without additional infrastructure burden.
