At Google I/O 2025, Google introduced a new live translation feature for Google Meet video meetings. Users will be able to benefit from automatic translation from Spanish to English in real time and with low latency.
Google says its translation technology is very close to natural communication, as it not only conveys the meaning of what is said, but also preserves the tone, rhythm of speech, and even facial expressions of the interlocutor. This will significantly improve the quality of international video meetings, allowing everyone to speak their own language, while artificial intelligence does all the hard work.
Until now, Meet users could only rely on live captions for translation, which required reading text while chatting. This new feature will allow you to fully focus on your conversation without having to be distracted by text prompts.
The feature is available in beta for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. It is expected to be available to enterprise users in early testing later this year. Google also plans to expand support for other languages in the coming weeks.
